RoVi receives funding from "Flügge"

RoVi was granted funding from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology. The so-called "Flügge" program supports early state start-up ideas coming from the universities in Bavaria.

Kick-off meeting for IEEE P1918.1.1 “Haptic Codecs for the Tactile Internet” on 2016-12-08

The kick-off meeting of the recently approved standardization activity on “Haptic Codecs for the Tactile Internet” will take place on December 8 and 9 at George Mason University, in Fairfax, VA, USA in conjunction with the next face to face meeting of the IEEE P1918.1 “Tactile Internet” working group.   To express your interest in participating in this activity, please go to   http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/1918/1/haptic_codecs/index.html   and follow the instructions on “How to participate?”   Please email both Oliver Holland (Chair of P1918.1) and Eckehard Steinbach (Chair of P1918.1.1) to inform that you have done this. IEEE standardization activity on Haptic Codecs approved

The New Standards Committee (NESCOM) of the IEEE Standards Association has approved a new project on “Haptic Codecs for the Tactile Internet”. The standard project runs under the name IEEE P1918.1.1 and will standardize haptic codecs for the Tactile Internet enabling the interoperability of different haptic (kinesthetic and tactile) input and output devices. Such interoperability is necessary to achieve necessary market scale in the realization of Tactile Internet technologies, devices and applications.
