| Biography: |
Prof. Kranz (*1977) researches on Ubiquitous Computing and interactive distributed environments. These environments, as well as the objects therein, are equiped with information and communication technology and are inter-connected. This allows the user to interact more intuitive and more efficient with digital information. Research challenges are e.g. how to methodologically developed, model and implement these future cognitive environments.
Prof. Kranz studied computer science at Technische Universität München. He then changed to Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München for his Ph.D. studies. Topics of his dissertation were perceptive user interfaces and systems engineering in the area of Ubiquitous Computing. He continued his career as research at German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V.) in Oberpfaffenhofen. He worked on questions of applications in the context of cooperative vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication.
Since 2009, he is assistant professor at Technische Universität München and heads the Distributed Multimodal Information Processing Group.
The new webseite of the Distributed Multimodal Information Processing Group is available at http://www.vmi.ei.tum.de/.
